BENEDICT, David N.
David Benedict was born in Santa Monica, California on January 9, 1944.When David was born he already had a brother, Robert, that was 7 years older. David's parents were Mildred and Laszio Benedict. At the time of David's birth the family lived in the Hollywood Hills. However, shortly after David's birth the family moved back to New York and lived in Manhattan with his mother and brother and his mother's parents, Joseph and Margaret Willson who also helped raise David.
At a very young age David became very interested in music. This was primarily because his mother, whose stage name Virginia Vaughan was a world famous dancer.
David went to school in New York, but later moved to Florida with his mother and brother and went to school in Miami Beach.
David later returned to New York where he started to learn to play the tenor saxophone which was his favorite instrument. He could also play the alto saxophone, flute and clarinet. David was self taught and although he did not play out professionally much, he was a great jazz player. During David's lifetime he greatly enjoyed jazz and has literally seen all of the best jazz musicians in the world and knew many of them personally. He also has a jazz collection of records and CD's second to none. He also collected rare coins and model cars.
David's favorite hobby was sports cars and he could explain in detail everything abut every make and model.
During David's lifetime he worked and retired from Local 1175, Sign, Display and Allied Trades Union.
Above all, David was a very loving and caring person. David loved Linda, his brother Bob's fiance and her three grandchildren, Matthew, Katelyn and Emma. Also, he loved pets and especially his beloved cats.
David has a brother, Bob, two nephews, Lance and Gary. Also, a grand-nephew Broc and a step-son Andre and a true friend Mark.
