Obituary of Carmen Heredia

Please share a memory of Carmen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Carmen Heredia, affectionally known as “Carmiña”, gained her heavenly wings on Wednesday, December 7, 2022. Carmiña was born in Yati, Colombia, on May 17, 1946, to Julio and Virginia Jimenez, and was the oldest of 5 children. In the city of Barranquilla, Colombia, she met the love her life, Aramis Heredia. On January 31, 1976, Carmen and Aramis joined together in holy matrimony, and from this union came their three children. In 1982 they chose to embark on a new journey and relocated to West New York, NJ. While in New Jersey Carmiña established herself as “a woman of the people”, who saw family and friends alike. She often hosted grand parties, always brought life to every festivity, and lent a helping hand to anyone in need. On June 21, 2015, she and her Husband moved to South Florida, where she continued to be “a woman of the people” to her new community. When you think of Carmiña, you can’t help but smile. Her joy was contagious. Her smile would light up any room. The vibrant life she lived often encouraged others to live theirs the same. She had a fire within her that displayed how radiant her soul was. In everything she did and in everything she was, she exuded the definition of love. Carmiña was love, and a love that will be treasured and spoken about for years to come. She was preceded in death by her Father Julio Jimenez and her Mother Virginia Jimenez. Those left to cherish her memories are her Husband of 46 years, Aramis Heredia; their children, Mildred Heredia, Shirley Heredia- Alvarado (Julio), and Aramis Heredia Jr; her siblings Julio Miguel Jimenez, Elsy Arroyo, Pedro Jimenez (Marianela), Consuelo Davila (Joaquin); her grandchildren, Sherelyn Green (Rory), Kaoma Gomez, Henry Gonzalez, Carlos Gomez, Samantha Moreno, Noami Alavarado, Alan Heredia, and Colton Conners; Great Grandchildren Charity and Zoe Green, Olivia and Layla Jaime; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close family and friends. A Visitation service will be held at Joseph A. Scarano Funeral Homes located in Pembroke Pines, FL, on December 12th, from 4pm – 8 pm. She will be laid to rest alongside her Mother at Fairview Cemetery, in Fairview New Jersey.
