In Loving Memory of Mildred Ann Buckridge
Mildred Ann Buckridge (nee: Arquhart), 90, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2023, at her home in Miramar, FL.
Funeral service will be held at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 8005 Miramar Parkway, Miramar, Fl. 33025 on Saturday, March 18 at 12 noon with Reverend Andrew Chan-A-Sue of St. Bartholomew officiating. Cremation will follow. Joseph A. Scarano Funeral Homes will be handling the funeral arrangements. Visitation will be held at Scarano Presidential Circle Memorial Chapel, 4351 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, Florida on Friday, March 17, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Mildred was born in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica to Gladys and Hubert on June 21, 1932. She grew up and went to school in Kingston where she later worked as an accomplished dressmaker for many years making exquisite clothing for her clients. After moving to the US and settling in Miramar, she embarked on a new career as a Certified Nursing Assistant before retiring in 2002 to take care of her granddaughter Anisa. She enjoyed several hobbies including, cross-word puzzles, traveling, dancing, knitting and crocheting, sewing, gardening, and cooking. She was involved in numerous charities and church organizations at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Kingston, Jamaica, and at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Miramar. Throughout her lifetime, she was an active member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Food for the Poor, Women’s league, Legion of Mary, several prayer groups, Cursillo and Charismatic movements. She served as eucharistic minister, Greeter and Usher, Choir member and more. Mildred is survived by her children, Hewie, Steeve, Debbie, Everett, and daughter-in-law, Lina; grandchildren Christopher (granddaughter–in-law, Nicole), Kimberly, and Anisa, as well as four sisters; nieces; nephews; cousins and devoted extended relatives including Buckridge family and other cherished relatives residing in Jamaica, Canada, UK, and the US. She is preceded in death by her husband, Vincent, parents, two brothers, and an aunt.In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Mildred can be made to St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 8005 Miramar Parkway, Miramar, Fl. 33025.The family wishes to extend their gratitude to everyone for their love and prayers.
