Obituary of Francis Abraham Mohammed

Francis Abraham Mohammed (Braggs), age 89, of Miramar, Florida, passed away peacefully on November 25th, 2023 at his daughter’s home, where he resided since 2005.
The funeral celebrating Francis’ life on earth and his new life in heaven will be held at his parish of Saint John XXIII Catholic Church at 16800 Miramar Parkway, FL 33027. The open-casket viewing is scheduled before the funeral mass. The viewing will be from 11 a.m. through 12 noon. The funeral mass commences at 12 noon. The viewing and funeral will be live-streamed. There will be no cemetery burial following the funeral.
Francis was born to parents Alexandrine and Avizull Mohammed in Saint James, Trinidad and Tobago, but he grew up and lived for most of his life in Curepe. Francis was blessed to grow up in an Anglican-Muslim household. He was baptized Anglican, but became Catholic on April 7th, 2007 at Saint Bartholomew Catholic Church, Miramar, Florida. Francis was educated in Trinidad and Tobago and worked at J. N. Harriman & Co. Ltd. in the accounting field. In his younger years, Francis’ main hobby was attending horse racing and hanging out with his neighborhood friends every evening even after they were all married, had families, and lived elsewhere. In his later years, Francis was a committed donor to many charitable organizations in the United States, especially Saint Jude Children’s Hospital. He also became a prayer warrior for his family and friends, praying for hours every day.
Francis is survived by his wife of 64 years, Camal Mohammed, and by his children, Francis Mohammed Jr., O’Neil Mohammed, Denise Mohammed, and Adeline Jean. Francis is also survived by his grandchildren, Sean Superville and Kieran Dean, and by his great grandchildren, Ayden Superville, Ariah Superville, and Austin Superville. He is as well survived by his son-in-law, Dr. Reynald Jean, daughter-in-law, Usha Dean Mohammed, granddaughter-in-law, Nikita Superville, and niece-in-law Sunita Mohammed. Francis is likewise survived by his sisters, Shyra Chami, Maureen Gowrie, and Pamela Khan, and by sisters-in-law Sally Mohammed, Angela Mohammed, and Ruby Mohammed.
Francis is survived by his nieces and nephews: Philip Mohammed, Donna Mohammed, Gina Chami, Paula Khan, Michael Khan, Rose Mohammed, Debbie Mohammed, Selwyn Mohammed Jr., Andy Mohammed, Rachel Mohammed, Nigel Mohammed, Gail Gowrie, Dawn Gowrie, Marsha Mohammed, and Roger Mohammed.
Francis is preceded in death by his brothers Rudolph Mohammed, Raphael Mohammed, Selwyn Mohammed, and Clive Mohammed. Francis is also preceded in death by step siblings, Lee Mohammed and Shelia Alkins, and by in-laws, Rawle Khan, George Chami, David Gowrie, and Tyra Mohammed.
Gifts of flowers can be sent directly to Saint John XXIII Catholic Church (the parish office) by Friday, December 1st, before 4:30 p.m. Alternatively, memorial donations can be sent to Saint Jude Children’s Hospital on behalf of Francis Mohammed.
The family of Francis is not mourning him but celebrating his life on earth and new life in heaven, so they are requesting that everyone attending the funeral wear colors other than black.
