Please share a memory of Maruja to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
We are sad to announce that Maruja Silva passed away peacefully on January 16, 2024 with her family by her side.
Born in Santiago, Chile on April 18, 1928, she lived a life of joy and generosity, moving to Miami in 1958 with her husband and son, where the family started and operated an airline catering service. Later in life she pursued a professional career, earning Masters and Doctorate degrees from Barry University and Nova SE University. She worked at the University of Miami Mailman Center for Child Development as a therapist and instructor of graduate students until the age of 74.
She dedicated her life to her family: her husband Sergio Silva, who passed away in 1991 and her son, Vicente Silva, and to helping people learn to cope with life’s challenges at numerous agencies throughout South Florida.
Her guidance and positive attitude will light our way forever.
Maruja is survived by her son, his wife Carol, her loving granddaughter Genevieve Silva and her brother and sister, Dionisio Rodriguez (Barbara), and Carmen Rodriguez.
