Joseph Rossano of Zephyrhills, Fl passed away Monday May 13, 2024 at his home. Joseph was born on May 26, 1932 in Flushing Long Island, NY, to Joseph and Marietta Rossano. He moved to Allapattah, Florida in 1942, attending Gesu Catholic School and St. Mary’s High School in Miami where he was an all State and all County Football player. He also met and later married his High School sweetheart Dorothy (Nancy) Toomey. Together they moved to Hialeah, Florida where they raised their 5 children. Joseph worked for Pan American Airlines as a stock clerk for 25 years. He also operated a parking concession at the Miami Jai Lai for 20 + years, where he employed many of the young men of the Southeast Section of Hialeah as well as having his 4 sons work along side of him for many years. Joe or as some called him “Papa Joe” touched so many of the lives of the neighborhood kids, that he truly never knew the impact he made on their lives. Later he went on to work for Coulter Corporation retiring in 1992. Joe and his wife purchased a “farm” in Newark, Ohio where he lived for 31 years until last year when he moved back to Florida. Joseph was preceded in death by his Wife Dorothy Toomey Rossano, parents Joseph and Marietta, his Oldest Sister Virgina Rossano Klenke and two sons, Daniel and Thomas. Joseph is survived by his sons Michael (Carla), John (Donna), his daughter Cissy and a daughter in law Jeanette Rossano, Sister Janet Rossano Wilkin 12 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren many Nieces and Nephews. Joe will be surely missed by all those who loved him, not to mention many of the Thrift Stores he enjoyed browsing and the Casino or what he enjoyed calling “Church” because he donated often. Burial will take place in Southern Memorial Park Cemetery. Please keep the Rossano family in your thoughts and prayers. The Joseph A. Scarano Pines Memorial Chapel is Honored to assist the Rossano family with the arrangements.
