Jose was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico on April 12th,1950 to Manuel and Matilde Arana. At 5-years-old, his family moved to New York City where he would live for the next 33 years. Even after moving to South Florida in 1989, NYC kept a special place in his heart. South Florida is where he would meet his beloved partner for life, Carmen Suyapa Salgado. They would marry on October 7th, 1991, in Miami, Florida. In his time married to Carmen, he would come to find her native Honduras home as much as he did the U.S.
Jose retired in 2015 after 21 years working for Broward Health Medical Center as support staff in the maternity ward, having received several awards for outstanding service over the years.
Jose was an avid reader his whole life, and that love of reading was passed on to his younger son, Manuel, to whom he also passed on a love of classic movies and TV. He was also a great lover of walking in nature, walking in his local park often and feeding the ducks with his wife, Carmen, with whom he also enjoyed spending time sitting on the beach.
Jose is survived by his wife, Carmen, and his two sons, Jesus and Manuel, his brother Luis Felipe Arana, his niece Julia(Nena) Rodriguez, nephew Luis(Papo) Rodriguez, and numerous more across the U.S. and Honduras.
A special thanks of gratitude to Scarano Funeral Homes for their great and loving assistance during this time.
