Obituary of Rosario Vizzini

Rosario Vizzini March 10, 1933 - July 27, 2024 Rosario (Roy) Vizzini, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and cherished member of the Cooper City community, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2024, at the age of 91. Roy was the widower of his beloved wife, Nina Vizzini. He is survived by his son Doug, his daughter-in-law Karen, and his cherished grandchildren, Ella and Gavin. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Roy proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He moved to Florida in 1969 and made Cooper City his home for over 50 years. Roy retired in 1995 after a distinguished 23-year career with Carolina Freight Carriers, where he drove an 18-wheeler truck and served as the local Shop Steward for the Teamsters Union. In 2018, Roy was honored by the Broward County Historic Preservation Board for his long-standing residence and contributions to Cooper City, representing the city at its 44th Annual Pioneer Day Celebration. In 2019, he was named “Mr. Cooper City” and proudly represented his city during the Founder’s Day Parade and numerous local events. An avid bowler, Roy participated in the Italian-American Club League and also enjoyed square dancing, ballroom dancing and visiting with family and friends. He was an active member of the Cooper City Active Adults Program and the Pembroke Lakes “Mall Walkers” club. Roy’s vibrant spirit, dedication to his family, and commitment to his community will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Joseph Scarano Funeral Home. Visitation 10 am - 12 pm with a Service at 12 pm.
