Obituary of Nicholas Everod Hinds

Please share a memory of Nicholas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Nicholas Everod Hinds, age 54, passed away on November 9, 2024. Born in Spanish Town, St. Catherine, he was a beloved husband, father, son, and friend. Known for his kindness and integrity, Nicholas touched the lives of all who knew him. Nicholas dedicated much of his career to the National Land Agency, where he made significant contributions to the Topo/Hydro Branch through his hydrographic surveys. Later, he joined the private sector with EHD Wilson & Associates, where he completed one of his most notable projects—the subdivision of Longville Park Housing Scheme. Returning to the National Land Agency through the Surveys and Mapping Division, Nicholas earned his Commission and worked in the Cadastral Survey Branch, the Cadastral Mapping Branch, and the Plan Examination and Certification Branch. At the time of his illness, Nicholas was the Chief Plan Examiner, having also served as acting Manager of the Plan Examination and Certification Branch. Known for his commitment to precision, Nicholas took great care to ensure survey plans met the highest standards, protecting the integrity of the cadastral system and guiding junior officers in the importance of detail. Outside of work, Nicholas’s gentle spirit was evident in all he did. Whether offering a listening ear to friends, lending a hand to neighbors, or sharing laughter with his family, he radiated warmth and kindness. Music was one of his greatest joys—a pastime that brought him peace and connected him with those around him. His easygoing nature made him a source of comfort, and his unspoken wisdom left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Nicholas shared a deep, abiding love with his wife, Felicia Bell-Hinds, and took great pride in their children, Dominic and Zori. He was a steadfast supporter of his family, cherishing simple, meaningful moments that defined the love and values they shared. Nicholas is survived by his wife, Felicia Bell-Hinds; children, Dominic and Zori; mother, Lorna Grogran; siblings, Kevin, Fabian, Donovan, and Althea; aunts, uncles, best friend, Ronald Brown; and many other relatives and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he inspired with his dedication, kindness, and grace.
