Obituary of Hans Lewing
Please share a memory of Hans to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Captain Hans “Hansi” Lewing died peacefully in his home on Friday, January 3rd at the age of 70 years old.
Hans is survived by his wife, Maria; children, Daniela and Steven; and siblings, Peter and Isabella.
Hans was born March 3, 1954, in Neuringe, Germany to his parents Johann and Teda Taddicten. He graduated from Seefahrtschule Leer (Nautical College) in Leer Germany and graduated with a degree of “Kapitaen auf Grosser Fahrt” and Engineering (Master Mariner) in 1978. He met the love of his life and children; Maria, Daniela, and Steven in August of 1987 onboard the SS Bermuda Star during the Captain’s Dinner. They then married in June of 1990 at their home in Closter, New Jersey prior to moving to Cooper City, Florida. Over time, Hans and Maria became grandparents and welcomed three beautiful grandchildren: Erik, Caylee, and Cole.
Hans was passionate about his property in Ocala, reading books, building computers, working on cars, home remodeling/construction, riding his motorcycle, and collecting firearms. He was well loved by his friends, colleagues and neighbors, was always there to support them in whatever they needed and enjoyed their weekly neighborhood “board meetings” in the front driveway.
The memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, January 12th at Scarano Pines Memorial from 11 am to 1 pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of Hans Lewing.
Please keep the Lewing family in your thoughts and prayers. The Joseph A. Scarano Pines Memorial Chapel is Honored to assist the Lewing family with the arrangements.
