Obituary of Joel Schrier

Joel Myron Schrier 79 born on July 25, 1936 to his loving parents Murray and Ruth Garodnick in Brooklyn, New York and passed away Wednesday January 6, 2016 in Hollywood, Florida after a long illness. Beloved husband of Martha Pearl Schrier for 56 years. Devoted father of Glenn and his fiancé Brenda, Abby married to Rick Carrera. Cherished grandfather of Jamie and his fiancé Jessica, Matthew, Allison, Rebecca and her husband Justin. Great grandfather to Emery, Michael, Enzo and Amelia. Dearest brother to his sister Debra Schrier. Uncle to his nieces and nephew.. A dear friend to many. Joel will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, hard worker, where he worked for over 25 years at Miami Dade County, Department of Corrections. His most favorite and happiest times was when his family were all together. He enjoyed outings with friends as well. He had a big interest in sports memorabilia and he was a organized" neat freak". He was a role model for all who knew him. He loved the University of Miami, all Miami teams the Hurricanes, Miami Heat, Dolphins and Marlins. He moved to South Florida in 1971 from Brooklyn, New York. A proud Army Veteran of Korean Conflict . After the funeral service the family will receive family and friends at Abbys and Rick Carrera home. Services will take place Monday January 11, 2016 from 11:00 A.M - 12:00 P.M. at Joseph A. Scarano Stirling Memorial Chapel, 6970 Stirling Road, Davie/Cooper City/ Hollywood, Florida 33024. Funeral Service will proceed with Rabbi Frank at 12:00 P.M. at Joseph A. Scarano Stirling Road. Entombment will follow at Shalom Memorial Park in North Miami Beach, Florida.
