Richard M. Edwards Life Story
Richard M. Edwards was born to his loving parents William L. Edwards, Jr. and Hilda R. Edwards on May 20, 1944 in Miami, FL. and he passed away on February 3, 2016 after a long illness. Beloved husband of Kathy Edwards for 42 years. Devoted and loving father of Richard Michael Edwards. Dearest brother of James F. Edwards and wife Kathi, sister Linda Sue Key and husband Billy and brother-in law Carlton Lowe. Also survived by his loving nieces Christine Lamias and husband Vince, Kelly Walker and husband Roy and Tammy Johnston and husband Mark. Richard grew up in Hialeah, FL and served in the US Army in Vietnam. When he returned home from the Army he worked at his father's service station on Miami Beach. After his father's death he worked at Seipp Buick in Hialeah and Potamkin Chrysler and Potamkin Chevrolet in Miami Lakes. Richard and Kathy met on a blind date in 1973. And married in 1974. Their son Richard Michael Edwards was born eleven years later and added a lot of joy to their lives. Richard was a member of Miami Lakes United Methodist Church. Richard worked on automobiles for a living and loved drag racing, stock car racing and car shows with collectible and high performance cars. He also loved to fish and do home improvement projects. He was a family man. Richard, Kathy and son Richard enjoyed vacationing together. They made many trips to Disney World, North Carolina and Tennessee. Along with other destinations. The family will receive relatives and friends at Joseph A. Scarano Funeral Home, Pines Memorial Chapel at 9000 Pines Blvd. Pembroke Pines from 6 to 9pm on Friday, February 5th. And a memorial service with Army Honor Guard will be at Miami Lakes United Methodist Church, 14800 NW 67 Ave. Miami Lakes at 11am on Saturday February 6th. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the repast immediately following the memorial service. This will be held in the Fellowship Hall at the Church. Interment will follow at Flagler Memorial Park, 5301 W. Flagler Street, Miami.
