William "Bill" Labon Robbins Jr. - 77 Years Old - Cooper City, Florida
Born July 31, 1938 in Miami, Florida - Died March 29, 2016
Father: William Labon Robbins, Sr.
Mother: Virginia Tharp Robbins
Mr. Robbins is survived by two sons, William Labon Robbins III of Virginia, wife Barbara Robbins and Craig Allen Robbins, wife Donna Robbins of Florida. Mr. Robbins had 9 Grandchildren and 6 Great grandchildren and 1 sister Joanne Robbins Payne of Central Florida.
Mr. Robbins served his country proudly in the U. S. Army Signal Corps and U.S.A R. as a Field Radio Repariman from 1961-1965. He later attended the University of Miami studying Civil Engineering.
Mr. Robbins spent the next 20 years working for Southern Bell as a Supervising Mechanic for their fleet of vehicles in Miami/Dade County and raising his family in Cooper City.
But everyone knew that Bill's lifelong "passion" was his love of antiques and collecting. He was a "picker" before it was cool to be one. He traveled all over the country searching and bringing home treasures. He loved telling everyone about the history of objects that he found. Nothing made him happier than being at an "Auction".
He was privileged to have the love and devotion of his lifelong companions and service dogs, Dina 1, Daisy, Dina 2 and Winnie, and to all the trainers and vets who helped him care for his beloved service dogs.
He had a deep love for family, neighbors, friends and children he watched grow up. To them he was and always will be.. ."Mr. Bill", he taught them the value of hard work and earning their way, to being kind to one another… and always had "Cotton Candy" on Halloween.
A special debt of gratitude to all the wonderful and devoted caregivers past and present who took such wonderful care of Bill during these last few years and especially to JoAnne, Stella, Camille, and Nelcy who together took the "final shift" to see that his was cared for until the end. He passed away peacefully at the home he loved, surrounded by the things he loved.
Viewing and Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 2nd at Scarano Funeral Home, 6970 Stirling Road, Davie, Florida 33024, PH: 954-893-5311 from 3-7pm. Mr. Robbins will be buried in his family plot at the Red Bluff Baptist Church Cemetery in Sylvania, Georgia.
Please join us in celebrating his life and sharing your memories of "Mr. Bill".
Thank you to everyone for all of your love and support during this time. The Robbins Family.
