Obituary of Bernard Newman

Bernard Newman was born November 7, 1930 to parents Bernice and Ivan Newman. He had two older siblings Richard and Ivan Jr who have since passed. Bernard and his family grew up in the Bronx and moved to Jamaica, Queens New York where he met his wife to be Dolores Supeck. After an elaborate wedding, they had three children Michael, Vincent and Victoria.
Bernard joined the Army and was assigned to their Film Unit where Bernard commuted from Queens New York to Washington DC to transport recruitment film for the US Army he served with them until he received an Honorable Discharge.
He studied Engineering and Mechanics at LaGuardia High School in Long Island City, Queens New York and Lindsay Hopkins Vocational School in Miami in Miami. Bernard became proficient in mechanics and was employed by his father Ivan at a garage owned by Ivan in Downtown Miami. Later he owned his own construction company in Port Jefferson Station, Long Island New York.
He applied for and was hired as a Diesel Engine Mechanic position at Seaboard Airline Railroad in Hialeah, Florida. After settling in Bernard move the family to what is known as Lake Forest in Southern Broward County. He stayed with Seaboard until after they merged with Atlantic Coast Line Railroad which shared the same track. The new company became Seaboard Coast Line Industries and is now known as CSX. Desiring to be closer to home, he obtained employment with the US Postal Service where he stayed until her retired.
After residing in West Park and teaching his sons about auto mechanics, Bernard moved his family to a new home in Knolls Estates in Miramar. From there after his children had grown he downsized to a townhouse in Cedarwoods in Pembroke Pines. From there Dolores and Bernard moved to his last new home in Laurence Oaks in Boynton Beach.
He was surrounded by his wife and children at the time of his passing July 10, 2016 at approximately 4:20PM at Bethesda Medical Center in Boynton Beach, Florida. Funeral arrangements were made in advance with Scarano Funeral Home in Hollywood, Florida.
The viewing will be at Scarano Funeral Home located at 4351 Hollywood Boulevard from 3:00PM to 9:00PM Wednesday July 13, 2016. The Funeral Service for Bernard will be at 8:00PM and be led by Father Julio from Nativity Catholic Church also in Hollywood.
The burial will be at South Florida National Cemetery at 6501 North State Road 7 in Lake Worth Florida.
He will receive a full military honors ceremony at 1115AM.
He is survived by his wife Dolores and his three children, Michael, Vincent and Teresa and his grandchildren, Michelle, Shannon, Madison, Victoria and Vincent.
