Obituary of Jean Martino

Jean Blaise Martino - Legal name Nick name, Jean-Jean, John, John-John Born February 3, 1935 of Italian parents from Naples, Italy His mother and father were both from Naples, Italy and immigrated to Haiti in the early 1900's where Jean-Jean grew up. He is one of 5 children and is survived by his beautiful sister Theresa who is with us today. At the age of 21, Jean-Jean became a casino dealer for a few years. He met his beautiful wife Helene at a carnival who happened to be with his cousin Carmela. It was love at first sight. They got married and were the proud owner of a grocery store and a retail business. They have two children Gino and Gina. Gino lived with them and looked after them. John was his son's bookkeeper at a mechanic's shop for many years. He greeted the clients with his wife Helene, and kept them company while waiting for their car to be fixed. His daughter Gina is married to Peter Zarcadoolas and they have two children, Peter-John and Matthew. (John's grand-children) They loved their grandpa very much. For the last seven months the entire family has devoted their lives to care for John. It was extremely stressful, but it was all done out of love. To the outside world, John appeared quiet, shy and very kind. To the people close to him, he was a comedian and made people laugh with his funny jokes. He cared deeply for his family and had the most generous heart. He protected his wife, and was her prince charming. He was the rock of the family. His presence will be missed immensely but his legacy will live on with the beautiful memories he left behind In Repose Sunday July 17, 2016 from 3-8 P.M. & Monday July 18, 2016 from 5-8 P.M. at The Joseph A. Scarano Pines Memorial Chapel, 9000 Pines Boulevard, Pembroke Pines, FL 33024 954-438-8222. Funeral Mass Tuesday July 19, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Miramar, Florida. Interment to follow at Hollywood Memorial Gardens West, Hollywood, Florida.
