Please share a memory of Delrose to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Delrose Orinthia Eason-Crooks April 16, 1940 - September 20, 2016
Delrose was born in Spring Hill West Portland Jamaica to Daniel McCausland and Irene McCausland on April 16, 1940.
Early education was at Birnamwood Primary and Regale High School in West Portland.
She migrated to the U.K. in the early sixties and embarked on a nursing career. Her training started at Burslem Haywood and Tunstall War Memorial Hospital in Stoke-On-Trent in 1969, and she was entered on the General Nursing Council for England and Wales.
Her brother Michael invited her to live in Canada. There she worked at the Bloorview Children Hospital in Toronto and gave of her best habit and attitude on the job. Canada however was too cold for her so she moved to New York and was employed at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, where she interviewed, screened, assessed, admitted and counselled young women in depression and assisted in operative procedures and discharge planning.
Again, New York proved too cold so she moved to Melbourne Florida and worked at Holmes Medical Centre in Melbourne doing observation of patients on Telemetry and Intensive care units monitoring hourly print outs and documentation reports.
Her journey in the U.S. finally stopped in Miramar Florida. She worked at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami for 25 years (1982-2007), caring for patients on the neurological floor.
Her life long ambition was to continue to excel as an experienced and resourceful professional in any organization that thrives on Commitment and Team Work.
She also played the organ and was able to play for worship at Wakefield Holiness Missionary Bands Church in West Portland as a teenager.
Delrose is survived by son Leroy, five grand children, one great grand child, brothers Michael, Milton and Oscar and sisters Franceta and Olga, friend Antonio, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
May her soul rest in peace and light perpetual shine on her.
