Obituary of Veronica Delores Anderson

Eulogy Veronica Delores Anderson, affectionately called “Joyce”, was born on 11th June 1929 in Kingston, Jamaica; the first of 10 children of Louise Humber Weir. She was the wife of the late Leroy Anderson, a sergeant in the United States Air Force and beloved mother of her only child, Gary Anderson. She leaves behind in mourning her son Gary, siblings, Bobsey, Lerick, Alvina (Cissy), Algon, Violet, Millicent (Queenie), George, Stafford, Jennifer, and Carlton; many nieces, nephews, grand and great grand nieces and nephews. In 1957 she married the love of her life, Leroy Anderson, and they settled at first in Jamaica. Shortly thereafter they migrated to the United States of America. Leroy’s assignments in the US Air Force took them abroad to several locations including, France and Spain. Gary was born in France in 1961. In 1962 Leroy and his family returned to the USA where he was based firstly in North Carolina and then Oklahoma. When he was deployed to Korea, Joyce moved to Bronx, New York with Gary. On Leroy’s retirement from the Air Force the family settled in Deleware. While in Delaware she worked with the Platex Company rising rapidly through the ranks and was one of their most respected Quality Control Inspectors. She remained there until her retirement and the family moved to Florida. Following her husband’s death in May 2001 she continued to live in Florida. A vibrant, fun loving, spirited personality, Joyce was well loved by her family and friends and was a strong believer who was committed to the Church. She will be greatly missed. May her soul rest in peace.
