I had the pleasure of getting to know Alan when my mom was in assisted living at The Plaza at Hallandale." I would see Alan every day and he was my favorite person to talk to. He embodied the core values you look for in any good person. Alan was the type of individual that quickly earned your trust and I=he was so pleasant to get to know. He was person of integrity. Alan was someone I looked up to. I was always in awe of his strength and courage when he faced difficult times. he never complained and never expected anything in return. H was very special to me. He was a great friend and a person I willy truly miss. Alan Kanowitz

While I did not know Al for long, he was a wonderful father in law and always made me feel loved and special. He always asked how I was doing and showed how caring he was. We miss him so much and will love him forever.

Al was a kind, selfless human being who always looked for the best in people (even when they weren’t deserving). He gave credit to everyone else for all his hard work and never had a bad thing to say about anyone. He was a wealth of knowledge and always shared his knowledge with anyone who needed it. He had a heart of gold and cared deeply about people and did his best to help others. He loved his wife and children deeply and would light up when he spoke about them. I consider myself fortunate to have known him and will miss him dearly.

Al was not only my boss for 9 years, he was my friend, family and a mentor in my career. He had a heart of gold. I remember my first interview with him, he was professional yet so genuine at the same time. When I asked the HR personal to tell me about him, they said “he’s a big teddy bear” and he was most of the time lol. I still remember his face when he promoted me the first time, I think he was happier than I was. He would stand up for his team to anyone, any day. Al loved sweets and he would bring them to the office, when I would tell him not to over do it he would say “you sound just like my wife”. LOL! We were all blessed to have been part of his team. The last time I saw him with Anna, Maria, Henry, we took him bagels and donuts. His face lit up at the Boston cream filled donuts. Al you will be dearly missed.

I had the honor of being able to meet Al at Republic Bank in 1990 where we worked together. Al was my compliance mentor. I enjoyed working with him, he was always positive and very knowledgeable. I learned so many things from Al, not just work related but more important things like integrity, honesty, values, humbleness, how to treat people, giving back to the community, the important of family, and of course he also taught me about baseball. Even when Republic Bank was sold in 1999 and we went to different banks, we continued to work together by being involved with the CRG, a non-profit community bankers group. I enjoyed those monthly CRG board meetings because before each board meeting I would meet with Al for lunch and catchup on how things were going. In 2009 we were able to work together again when I joined TotalBank. Al had a great compliance staff at TB that loved him dearly and would do anything for him. He was like a second father to many of us. Even after he retired from banking, Maria and Marisol would visit Al occasionally and invite me to join them. I enjoyed visiting with Al and Anna in those visits and he would always greet us with his great smile. Over the past 30+ years Al has been a tremendous positive influence in my life. He will be greatly missed. Rest In Peace Al. Your friend, Henry Villaronga

I only met Alan a few times,...... he was always kind, sweet, and loved his wife deeply. Recently Anna and I visited him, and he always said "how beautiful his wife is" and he liked to eat the chocolates that she took to him daily. He will be missed by all. Condolences to his family.

My big brother, Alan, was a gentle soul who lived values learned from his mother - independence, responsibility, commitment. I have many memories from our childhood growing up in Brooklyn NY during the 1950s. We had some really good fights, including one that ended up with a dart in Alan's leg! I will miss our regular phone calls - "just checking in."
