My sister, Joanne, was a true matriarch of our family. She cared about everyone, worried about everyone, gave her advice to everyone and prayed for everyone. She felt it her duty to keep everyone happy and everything in order. Somehow, amazingly, I must often did what she asked. She loved crafts and was very creative with them, making many gifts for friends and family including a myriad of homemade ceramics. She treasured any time spent at the beach and she loved swimming there or anywhere! In earlier years she rode her bike everywhere and often to garage sales. Cooking was her ultimate pleasure and, in her opinion, recipes were for amateurs. She had many other opinions as well. Most importantly Joanne had a strong faith. She was always involved in the work of the church, much of which was teaching God's word. Her faith in God gave her strength and determination that were very evident in the struggles and battles she faced in this life. She was quite an amazing woman and will be missed by so many. I will miss our visits, which were never often enough. I will miss the times we shared playing games, laughing, talking, and even crying. I already miss my sister very much and now I will begin a new chapter in my life without her in it. But the sweet memories I have and the assuredness of knowing her soul is now in heaven and she is in blissful peace will bring me comfort. Goodbye for now, Joanne.....but I'll see you again someday.
