Obituary of Diogenes A. Filpo

Diogenes A. Filpo of West Park, FL passed away on 03/30/2023 at his home. Funeral services will be held at Joseph Scarano Funeral Homes located at 4351 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, FL on April 9th at 2:00 pm. Church Service will be held at St. Stevens Catholic Church located at 2000 S. State Rd 7, Miramar, FL 33023 at 11:00 am. followed by burial at Lauderdale Memorial Park located at 2001 SW 4th Ave., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33315. Diogenes A. Filpo was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic to Irma Genao and Aureliano Filpo on 09/23/1952. He attended Louis D. Brandis High school. Through out his life he worked many jobs as a medical assist., school bus driver for Broward county schools, and even as a butcher at P's House of Meats. He loved playing solitaire on his tablet, fishing, playing dominoes, shooting pool, gardening, music and dancing. He enjoyed watching tv sitcoms such as Cantinfla, Sanford & Sons, and Three stooges. Also collecting many trinkets (He believed one mans junk was another mans treasure) but most of all he enjoyed time with his family! Diogenes is survived by his children: Maria Elena Filpo daughter, Alba A. Filpo-Sarmento daughter, Diogenes S. Filpo (Jay) son, Victor M. Filpo Son. His son-in-law Kirk Sarmento and daughter in law Yvonne Rodriguez. His siblings: Brunilda Perez, Elida Perez, Frelida Filpo (Fre), Miguel Filpo, Elido Filpo (Negro), Leyda Perez, Miriam Pearce, Hilberto Filpo (Cuchito). His grandchildren: Dhanelt Jose Garcia (Noni), Ivan A. Hernandez (Godi), Jaylene K. Filpo, Angelina Sarmento (Angie),Diogenes F, Filpo (Junior) Aniyah Sarmento, and Alyssa Filpo. Great-grandchildren: Dhanelt J. Garcia (D3) and Dhanzel J. Garcia. As well as many nieces and nephews. Diogenes is preceded in death by his father Aureliano Filpo, Mother Irma Filpo, and brothers Rigoberto Filpo (Rigo), Lionel Antonio Filpo and Luis Angel Filpo (Mono). He will be forever loved and Immensely missed! Please keep the Filpo family in your thoughts and prayers. The Joseph A.
