Colby was one of my closest friends like he was to so many. The best kind of friend, the best kind of colleague, and even the best kind of boss. I was blessed to know him in all three of these roles during our almost 20-year friendship.
I've been struggling tremendously to find the right words to express how I feel since Colby passed away three weeks ago. He brought so much positivity, laughter, and support into my life, and his absence is profoundly felt.
We had a lot of fun when we were young, but it's not those days that taught me what kind of friend Colby really was. That realization came later, after my daughter was born 10 years ago, and I needed a job. He brought me onboard at the company he was in, without even asking for a thank you. In the last few years, despite living in different states, he remained a positive influence in my life. Working at a second company together this year, he has been a real mentor and leader, irreplaceable in every way. He was one of the hardest workers I knew, and his knowledge of his profession was unparalleled. But above all, nothing made him happier than his family.
Even though we didn't get the opportunity for him to introduce me to his family,l he clearly adored his wife and being a dad more than anything.
Colby touched the lives of so many, and I'm grateful for the time we spent together.
He is greatly missed.
