My Padrino, Tio, it’s weird to think I’ll go back home and you won’t be there for a visit. I sit and think of all the memories from your stories, singing to me to tuck me in, kissing my forehead to check for fever, the smell of your pipe, the endless birthday parties that titi loved to have…swimming all weekend, cafeteria stops, punishing Rey for teasing me. You always had my back. Every mile stone in life you were there, my communion, confirmation, my first job at the office, graduations, weddings, and sending me off to live the military wife life. I think I’ll never forget your face when I gave birth to my son and you said oh my jojo you’re a MOM! It was the exact face beaming with pride when I brought you my daughter… “Que dios me lo cuide” you said….you and titi set the bar pretty high when it came to godparents that’s for sure… Rest easy tio…I’ll love you forever.
