THE ADVENTUROUS LIFE OF EDWARD GARCIA
“And now, the end is near
And so I face the final curtain
My friend, I'll say it clear
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain
I've lived a life that's full
I traveled each and every highway
And more, much more than this
I did it my way”
These words so eloquently sung by Frank Sinatra best describe Edward Garcia’s life. Ed’s zest for life can be seen how he awoke early each day eager to get to the office because he never considered his business “work” but rather an exciting challenge. One of Ed’s proudest accomplishments has been to grow his successful business, Associated Tax Consultants, Inc. (ATCI), for nearly 50 years. ATCI provides accounting, financial management, tax planning, insurance, and many other services to small and medium sized businesses and individuals. Ed was proud that his nephew Henry (Hank) Garcia will carry on his legacy.
Ed was well respected among all his peers, clients and friends. Over his decades long career, he has helped tens of thousands of clients reach their business and financial goals. Many of whom had become wonderful friends and cared deeply for Ed.
Ed was a tax accountant, financial advisor, and enrolled to practice before the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as an Enrolled Agent. Ed was a member of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Broward Chapter of Enrolled Agents, The National Society of Tax Professionals, The National Association of Tax Professionals and Past President of the Florida Accountants Society - Dade Chapter.
Ed’s passion was traveling the world with his wife Nitza, daughter Jennifer, family and friends. Ed was proud to have visited 49 out of the 50 U.S. states. He enjoyed taking several international trips throughout Europe, East Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Australia & New Zealand, Latin America and the Caribbean.
Ed was a proud alumni of Florida International University (FIU) where he earned a Bachelor's degree with a double major in Accounting and Management with a Minor in Teaching. As a young man, Ed honorably served the United States of America for four years as a US Air Force MP. He was born in New York City to Fausto Garcia and Alice Kamin.
Ed passed away peacefully on March 20, 2024 at the age of 80. Ed is survived by his wife Nitza Diaz Garcia; his daughter Jennifer Garcia; his nephews Hank Garcia and Israel Diaz; his niece Neily Ann Diaz; first cousins Carolyn Pietrodangelo Ayers, MaryAnn Pietrodangelo Baker and Madeline Pietrodangelo, Donato Pietrodangelo, their children; caring Mother-in-law Hilda Diaz Ramos, and several Godchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Henry J. Garcia, and nieces Dawn Garcia and Stephanie Diaz Gomez.
Though always portraying a strong exterior, because he was a protector and wanted to be strong for others, his wife Nitza understands best how much Ed cared very deeply for his family, friends and clients. Ed was truly affected when those he cherished were hurt or suffering and often stepped in to do what he could for them.
Ed will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Ed’s intelligence, determination, drive, sense of humor, positive attitude, loving spirit, eager support of others and zest for life will remain in the hearts of his loved ones and all who knew him for years to come. Though he may have left this world, his loving spirit will forever live on.
