Aunt Delores was a very strong and generous person I
Knew her for many years of my life. Her husband and my father (Frank Egnezzo) were best friends and grew up together from when they were children Aunt Delores and I would talk about different fashions and styles that were in for woman and every now and then when visiting my parents she would slip me a twenty dollar bill when I was a child. Aunt Delores will forever be missed buy me and my family. Now that she is reunited with her husband may their souls live on for eternity God bless you and yours

Nana,
There’s so much I want to say, but it feels impossible to fit it all into words. 95 years of life, what an extraordinary gift, and you made the most of every single one of those days. As my father, your Johnny Boy, always says, "Every day is a great day," and you truly embodied that spirit. Not a single day will pass where I don’t feel your strong will, sharp wit, and enthusiasm for life.
I will cherish our memories forever. From days spent at the race track to nights walking Point Pleasant's boardwalk, playing games with you and Poppy, every moment was unforgettable. I loved visiting you at the Hallandale apartment, swimming beforehand, meeting all your friends, and then going back to the apartment to enjoy dinner together. And, of course, our countless trips to Saratoga Springs, NY, will always hold a special place in my heart. The thrill of the race track, placing bets on horses, and sharing amazing dinners made those vacations unforgettable.
One memory that will always remain my favorite is Christmas Mass with you and Poppy. Poppy had a playful way of trying to make me laugh, squeezing my fingertip to see if he could get me to squeal in the silence. Each time he did, my jaw would drop, and I’d mime the pain, trying to hold it together. You’d always turn to him, ready to scold, making sure I stayed out of trouble. You were always on my side, and I’ll never forget that.
Since you moved to Florida full-time, I’ve been so incredibly blessed to share every holiday, birthday, and special occasion with you. Those years gave us the chance to form a deep, adult relationship and a bond that was truly one of a kind.
It will forever be a blessing that I was able to be by your side in those final moments. I will always remember you as someone surrounded by family and the deep love of those who cherished you.
I will keep picking winners for both of us. I love you always.

Dolores was my late husband, Theodore's, mother. He was the middle child of her and Doc's family. I was Ted's wife for over 31 years and we raised 3 wonderful daughters together until his sudden passing in April 2022. Being Dolores' daughter-in-law was not an easy task over those 31 years. She was a very tough woman to deal with. After her husband passed she came to rely on her son and I alot and our relationship improved over time. She would always light up when I would show up with a freshly cooked meal for her in her nursing home (as she really didn't like the food there). Ted and I would take her out weekly in our Golf Cart to local restaurants. She absolutely loved this and couldn't wait for these excursions each and every week. Her 3 granddaughters meant the world to her and now sadly they have lost their final grandparent. Rest in peace Dolores you are now with Doc and I can hear the bickering over how to cook the lobsters and sauce from here. Love Lisa, Brianna, Vanessa & Giorgina

We are so very sad to hear of the passing of your mom/nana. Although we've never met her, we've heard so many beautiful and funny stories that it makes us feel like we knew her. We only wish we have the gumption that she had at 95 years old. Such a beautiful soul.

Dolores left quite an impression on all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her sharp mind outpaced her even sharper picks at the track. Her zeal for life was apparent in the few, but meaningful, interactions I had with her. Whether it was to rack up another game of Rummikub, or deal another hand of Gin Rummy, Dolores was always wanting to be part of the action.
It's clear that her strong-minded nature has had a profound impact, particularly on Dee, Kailah, and Shaynah. They each embody parts of her spirit and character that allow her legacy to live on.
May we all strive to live life with a modicum of the spunk, vitality, and effervescence that she displayed.
You will be greatly missed, Dolores. I trust you're already running the card game and picking winners where you are now.

Thank you Andrew - in the two times she met and had the good fortune to get to know you, she truly connected and trusted you, not to mention how much she approved of you for my daughter, Kailah. I am so happy you were present with the girls and I recently, to celebrate her 95th birthday celebration weekend. I'm sure you will always have her blessing as being a part of our family.

What a mom I had! My mom was fierce, tenacious, tough and challenging and it was not always easy being her daughter, but perhaps those qualities are exactly what made me the strong woman I am today. She was very determined, persistent, stubborn and feisty, but at that same time, she was extremely loyal and devoted to her family. She was courageous and brave (even though she pretended not to be) always independent and her mind was sharp like a tac. She always knew exactly what she wanted and just how to get it.
In her aging years and most recently in the past 5 years, I grew to admire her more and more for her ability to not give up on life in the face of adversity, but to move ahead with confidence and assurance and continue to enjoy the gifts that keep us moving forward in the journey of life, and to live life to the fullest extent, as she had. She had a strong sense of faith in God and that instilled a strong faith in God for me undoubtedly. I will miss all that I loved and admired about her and in her absence, her bright light will live on in me, from now until eternity.
I love you mom and will miss you ~

Nana,
95 years of life is truly remarkable and unheard of these days. I've always known you to be a tough, strong and fierce woman, so it came as no surprise that you kept fighting right until the very end.
You were not like the "typical" grandmother who some may picture sitting in a rocking chair, quietly knitting a blanket. You were the complete opposite: always chatting, vivacious, colorful, keenly aware and constantly keeping busy. A true mover and shaker, just like my mom (your daughter).
A few of my favorite memories growing up are: lounging at the Deal Casino, swimming in the ocean, playing multiple rounds of Rummikub (you always tried to cheat), dining out for yummy dinners (Italian, crabs, Chinese) and betting at the racetrack.
My heart hurts knowing that a generation is no longer with us, but I can only hope that in the last few days of your life you were able to lean on God and find more peace than fear. We will all miss you.

Nana,
It will be impossible to forget some of your most distinguishable traits...your love of good food, nothing better than "hot and fresh" soup on a 95 degree Florida day. Somehow always knowing what horse to bet even at 95. After a long day of activities, never willing to admit tiredness or being ready for the day to end. Your bulky and extravagant jewelry that never took a day off. The face you made when you put on lipstick. Always spying on Kailah and I in the back seat of the car through the visor mirror. The 15 pound purse that never EVER left your sight. And my personal favorite, childhood memories of summers with you and Poppy at the Jersey Shore in Deal, spending sunny days at the beach club and playful evenings on the lawn of the condo.
I feel incredibly lucky to have had two grandmothers who were feminists in their own right and friends too. You were athletic, dramatic, and fresh. You loved the finer things in life and had abundant energy and appetite. As difficult as it was for us to say goodbye and we will greatly miss your presence, I know Poppy is waiting for you. I'd like for you to get your rest now but I know you'll be doing nothing of the sort! Thank you for being one fourth of an amazing group of grandparents.

Shay, your natural instinct to offer quick wit with your hilarious sense of humor, was a trait that always put a smile on Nani's face. But more than that, your good common sense and capability of exuding sincere trust, is what Nani relied on most, when it came to her health, safety and general well-being. She also admired your creative side and child-like curiousity. Thank you for sharing some of her funniest but very true idiosyncrasies that made her unique.
